The human factor, key to Revenue Management
Participants in the University Expert Program in Hotel Renevue Management run by the Executive Education Department of the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management Sant Ignasi – HTSI (Ramon Llull University) had the opportunity to attend a master class by Olga Cherepanova, director of Revenue Management at Renaissance Barcelona Fira Hotel.
Cherepanova gave the introductory class for the Executive Education program, explaining the importance of Revenue Management in the hotel industry. “The goal is to achieve a strategic vision by combining individuals, processes, systems and tools to maximize income and earnings”, she explained.
The expert in Revenue Management referred to the origins of hotel income management and its ties to the aviation industry, and noted that the Marriott hotel chain pioneered the use of these techniques. “We started out with rooms, but we soon saw that the same techniques could be applied to other services: spas, restaurants, parking, etc. Large hotel chains now include all their departments”, Cherepanova explained.

On June 27, at the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management Sant Ignasi (HTSI) the first edition of the University Expert Programs for Executive Education in Revenue Management and Hotel Finances was brought to a close. During the event, participants had the opportunity to attend a lecture on short-term expectations for tourism in Barcelona and Catalonia in general given by Patrick Torrent, Executive Director of the Catalan Tourist Board.

Participants in the University Expert Program in Executive Education on Hotel Finances at the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management Sant Ignasi (HTSI) had the opportunity to attend a master class by Rémi Bachelier, finance director at Hotel Arts Barcelona. This establishment is well known in the city because of its dimensions and its stable occupation.
Drawing from his experience as financial director in the tourism and hotel sector for 18 years, Bachelier emphasized the importance of Quality Data, and explained how information analysis, the verification of the efficiency of operations and decision-making are essential to the success of a hotel. “Quality data is one of the pillars of hotel finances. As a result, the motto of our department at Hotel Arts Barcelona is ‘SPACE’, or ‘simple, planned, accurate, consistent and efficient’.”

May 3 and 4 marked the start of the first edition of the Executive Education programs on Hotel Finances and Revenue Management organized by the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management Sant Ignasi (HTSI). To mark the occasion, a presentation event was held with the participation of Ricard Santomà, HTSI Dean, Antonio Hermosilla, Director of Executive Master Programs and Florencia Cueto, Director of Executive Education.
With these university expert programs, HTSI hopes to offer answers and solutions to current challenges in tourism through specific training and professional contact. “We’re investing in a different kind of educational product, one that’s focused on executives and professionals in the tourism and hotel sector”, declares Florencia Cueto, Director of Executive Education. She adds that these programs are an opportunity to specialize in hotel finances and revenue management. In addition, the professors providing classes are all currently active in the sector and all have broad professional experience.

HTSI launches Executive Education programs on Revenue Management and Hotel Finances
The School of Tourism and Hospitality Management Sant Ignasi (HTSI) is taking a new step forward in the training of executive professionals, launching a new Executive Education line with University Expert Programs in Revenue Management and Hotel Finances. The main goal of these programs is to provide answers to social debates and solutions for the current challenges to tourism through professional meetings, studies and specific training.
