The School of Tourism and Hospitality Management Sant Ignasi (HTSI) has decided to extend the period for the presentation of candidacies for the 15th edition of the Premis Xavier tourism awards to September 19.  Anyone who would like to present a candidacy can do so, taking into account the two categories of the award:

  • Professional category: persons and institutions whose contributions to the tourism sector are based on innovation, quality, service and personal development.
  • Academic category: persons and institutions whose involvement in training professionals from the sector is key to ensuring excellence, quality service, and the generation of knowledge.

The jury, led by Federico Mayor Zaragoza, former Spanish Minister of Education and Science and former General Director of UNESCO, includes 14 prestigious individuals such as Anna Maria Birulés, Isidre Faine, Josefina Castellví, Antonio Asensio and Javier Godó. The jury was assembled on May 11 and will meet again on September 20 to decide who will receive the award at the ceremony held in December.

Since 2003, the Premis Xavier de Turisme have recognized the contributions of individuals who stand out as a result of their excellence, dedication, innovation and social contributions in the area of tourism, with the goal of making tourism more responsible and sustainable with respect to both the natural and social environment.
