Student Paula Sánchez: “At HTSI, class activities are a break from routine; they’re a more dynamic way of learning”

We’re speaking with Paula Sánchez, a 2nd-year student of the Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management and protagonist of the short film “Propera parada”. This film, about love at first sight between two girls on the metro, was the winner of TMB’s 10th Subtravelling International Shot Film Festival.

In this interview, we asked Paula about her experience as an actress and a student of the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management Sant Ignasi.

paula-sanchez_htsiWas this your first acting role? What was the experience like?

Yes, this was my first short with a film crew, a sound crew, a director and so on, in a professional-type setting. I’m sure it won’t be my last. It helped me learn to lose the fear of trying new things, of stepping out of my comfort zone and not dwelling so much on the opportunities I get.

How would you convince someone to see the film?

I’d tell them that they’ll identify with what happens in it. If they run into a similar situation, they’ll ask themselves: “why don’t I seize this chance?” Plus, this is a film by 20-year-old audio-visual students; it shows that with a little bit of effort you can get results like these.

What stands out to you about your education at the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management Sant Ignasi?

The constant help and guidance you get from teachers. Plus, the different class activities are a break from routine; they’re a more dynamic way of learning.

Can you sum up you experience at HTSI in two words?

Surprising and intense.

Do you recommend HTSI?

Yes, 100%. Over the course of 4 years, the School of Tourism provides you with all sorts of opportunities, both professional and educational. Plus, you get the chance to do an internship your first year, you hear guest speakers, you go on study tours… HTSI gives you a realistic look at what the tourism sector is like right now, and presents you with a range of professional options you might not even have considered.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I see myself happy, with a job I really love. It won’t necessarily be a stable one, and It’ll be far, far away from here.
